Manual Therapies

Manual therapy is one of the hands-on treatment techniques I use during physiotherapy sessions to help improve your pet's comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life. Using gentle movements and massage techniques, I can assess areas of tension, stiffness, or discomfort and provide targeted treatment to support recovery. Manual therapy is commonly used for pets recovering from surgery, managing arthritis, recovering from injury, or experiencing age-related mobility changes.

Massage therapy can help relax tight muscles, improve circulation, and reduce pain. Many pets find massage very calming and enjoyable, and it can be particularly beneficial for those experiencing muscle soreness or compensatory tension from an injury. Improved blood flow to the tissues can also support healing and help reduce swelling.

Joint mobilisation involves gentle, controlled movements of a joint to help improve flexibility and maintain normal range of motion. This technique can be especially helpful for pets with stiffness caused by arthritis, injury, or periods of reduced activity. By encouraging healthy joint movement, we can help your pet move more comfortably and confidently.

In addition to massage and joint mobilisation, I may use passive range of motion exercises, where I carefully move your pet's limbs through their natural range without them having to do any work themselves. These exercises help keep joints flexible, maintain muscle and soft tissue health, and support recovery when normal movement is limited. Every treatment plan is tailored to your pet's individual needs, ensuring that all techniques are safe, comfortable, and appropriate for their condition.
